The white horse of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) galloped into Kosubosu,  Baruten Local Government Area in the Kwara North Senatorial District on Saturday and carried some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and  Peoples Democratic Party into its fold.

The decampees, mostly women and youths from 11 wards in Baruten Local Government Area,  explained that they were tired of the tactics and failures of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led APC administration in the state.

They also pledged to work for the success and triumph of the SDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal in next March’s election.

The new SDP members anchored their support for Lawal on his being a young man with a great vision that is capable of moving the state forward from the present “state of deceit and stagnancy”.

They also prayed for the success of the party in the polls so that the the state can get to its promised land, and its glory as a shining star in the North could be restored.

SDP state chairman, Alhaji Afolabi Azeez, who led the delegation to the area to recieve the decampees, urged them to remain steadfast and work for the success of all its candidates in the general elections.

The representative of the governorship candidate at the event, Dr Bolaji Afolabi enjoined the new members to put their trust in the party, which he described as the only viable alternative vehicle to take the people of the state to the land of abundant prosperity and freedom.

He added that the governorship candidate is young, vibrant and full of energy to implement the party’s manifesto without fear or favour.

The party’s Patigi Local Government elder, Hon. Aliyu Lade, who represented the Kwara North senatorial candidate, Hon. Attahiru Manko, thanked the delegation for the visit and pledged the continued support of the people for the party before, during and after the elections.
