Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Gabriel Martinelli will miss their UEFA Champions League opener against PSV on Wednesday night.
However, the Brazilian forward could be in contention to return against Tottenham in the English Premier League at the weekend.
Martinelli was forced off with a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
He was also missing from Arsenal’s training session on Tuesday as the rest of the squad prepared for their UEFA Champions League return.
“He felt something in his hamstring, we need to do some further tests to assess if there’s any big damage or not.
“But he will be out for tomorrow’s game, that’s for sure”, Arteta said when asked about Martinelli’s situation on Tuesday.
The Gunners return to Europe’s elite club competitions for the first time since the 2016/17 season.
