Following the recent election of Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo into the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Vice Chairman of the Lagos chapter, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu assumed office as Chairman on Wednesday.

He will serve the remainder of the executive council’s term, which ends on Thursday, 14 August 2025, when elections are scheduled to take place.

The official transition took place during the chapter’s first Monthly Meeting following NIPR Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Uyo,  the Akwa Ibom State capital, where Nwankwo was elected into the Governing Council.

At the handover ceremony, Nwankwo expressed her gratitude to the chapter for the overwhelming support she received throughout her tenure as Chairman.

In his acceptance speech, Ayetutu, who also marked a significant personal milestone on that same day by successfully defending his Ph. D thesis at Babcock University, commended his predecessor for her exceptional leadership and years of devoted service to the chapter and the Institute.

He called on members to close ranks and prioritise unity within the chapter, pledging to work diligently to ensure that the public relations profession gains its rightful recognition and influence in Lagos State.

In accordance with the NIPR Chapter Administration By-Law (Amended 2024), Nwankwo remains a member of the chapter’s Executive Council as Ex-Officio, with additional responsibilities as Internal Auditor, alongside a former chapter Chairman, Mr. Olusegun McMedal, who was also elected into the NIPR Council during the Uyo AGM.

Ayetutu is a Fellow of the NIPR, a Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, and a dedicated Rotarian. He is Governor Nominee Designate for Rotary International District 9111.

He is a seasoned, creative, and tactful communication strategist with over 24 years of professional experience in the Integrated Marketing Communications industry.
