Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was, on Thursday, rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa in the state capital, after slumping.
He reportedly collapsed while in his office.
Ewhrudjakpo claimed that members of the lawmakers were under pressure to remove him from office due to his refusal to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — the platform on which he and Governor Douye Diri were elected in 2020.
The Deputy Governor also alleged that some council chairpersons were being threatened with removal for refusing to leave the PDP alongside the governor.
On 4 November, Diri announced his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — almost a month after leaving the PDP.
