The 9th season of Big Brother Naija began on Sunday night with the regular show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, revealing the theme for the 2024 edition of Africa’s most-talked-about reality TV show as “No Loose Guard”.

Songstress Niniola opened the show with a scintillating performance shortly after the show host took the live audience and viewers round the BBNaija 9 House and its allure of breathtaking sections.

The show comes with an unusual twist as Housemates were being introduced to the House in pairs or duos of housemates of different shades of persons – from family members to a pair of lovers, a couple and close friends.

Save for any further surprise, 14 pairs of housemates made entry into the BBNaija Season 9 House in duos of opposite genders and same-gender – 13 male and 15 female housemates – 28 in all competing to win N100 million prize money in pairs for 10 weeks when the BBNaija Season 9 will last.

An aunt and her niece, Nne and Chinne, with they acronym ‘NDINNE’, including two sets of identical twins, were introduced as pairs into the House.

When introduced, Aunt Nne and her niece Chinne narrated that she had been trying to get into the Big Brother Naija House for the past eight years.

The Ndinne duo revealed that they hoped to prove that blood is thicker than water by winning the show.

The first set of identical twins introduced to the House was Wani and Handi, who goes by the acronym ‘WanXHandi’. The female duo revealed that they met in their mother’s womb and have been best of friends since then.

The Kaduna State-born female Disc Jockeys expressed that while in the BBNaija House, they would miss partying, clubbing and dancing.

Then, enters the identical male ‘Mbadiwe Twins’, who were recognised by the serial TV show anchor Ebuka Obi-Uchendu as prominent figures in Lagos State. They are said to be grandsons of iconic Nigerian politician, late Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe.

Ozee and Ocee Mbadiwe disclosed that they are single and are very open to finding love in the House.

Also, a married couple, Kassia and Kellyrae, who debuted as ‘DoubleKay’ was also introduced into the Big Brother Naija House.

The couple who have been together for 11 years revealed that they got married in February. They both expressed that they would miss their phones the most.

When asked if being in the House would not affect their marriage being that the reality TV show does not have a great history of sustaining marriages, the couple assured that their case would be different. There is, however, a caveat – the couple mustn’t disclose its marital status to the rest of the Housemates.

Also, two siblings – Chizoba and Onyeka, who paired up as ‘Chekas’, expressed that they have both gotten into the House for the prize money.

The two sisters revealed that they did not come for peace as their strategy is “Play the fool, be seen as water”.

Meanwhile, Dynamic duo Nne and Chinne, a.k.a Ndi Nne, won the first Custodian Challenge in the ongoing Big Brother Naija Season 9 on Sunday night.

The duo won the challenge after finding the correct bottle in the challenge held on the first night of the reality TV show

The reality TV show, which was launched four hours earlier, has 14 pairs of housemates in the Big Brother 2024 House in both opposite and same genders.

By winning the #BBNaija custodian challenge of the season, the Ndi Nne duo is consequently safe from possible eviction this week and both housemates also have the power to influence nominations of other housemates for this week.
