Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has won his second Bundesliga Rookie of the Month award by clinching the September honour.
Leverkusen announced Boniface as the winner of the trophy on their social media account on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Friday. This impressive feat marks his second Rookie Player of the Month award this season after he claimed the award also in August.
The 22-year-old talent outshone his competitors, including RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons and Hoffenheim’s forward Maximilian Beier to seize the honour.
In September, Boniface netted two goals and provided three assists in just four appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.
Furthermore, Boniface recently made his debut for the Super Eagles during the 2023 AFCON qualifier against São Tomé and Principe. In that game, he showcased his skills by delivering an assist for Samuel Chukwueze, contributing to Nigeria’s resounding 6-0 victory.
In a splendid follow-up, he made his first start for the Eagles in the 2-2 international friendly against Saudi Arabia in Portugal.
Boniface has enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Bundesliga since his move to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer from Union St-Gilloise with nine goals scored and three assists provided in 10 games.
The Nigeria international made history last month becoming the first player since Erling Haaland in 2020 to win both the Rookie and Player of the Month award in the same month.
