This year’s marathon bible reading will be held across 300 centres in 22 states from Monday to Friday, August 26-30.

This was disclosed by the General Secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, on Sunday at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Marathon Bible Reading at Christ Anglican Church, Elere-Agege, Lagos.

Sanusi, who was represented by the Assistant General Secretary, Corporate Development, BSN, Mr Yemi Olayiwola, represented the GS, Pastor Samuel Sanusi, stated that the programme, which would be from 9 am to 5 pm daily, was aimed at encouraging Christians irrespective of denomination, profession, age or sex to read the bible.

“We encourage our leaders to turn to God for help and have the courage to lead with the fear of God. Let us make Bible reading a very important part of their daily lives.

“If Nigerians read their bibles daily, inculcate biblical virtues and live according to the will of God, no doubt, God will be pleased with our country and heal our land,” he noted.

Also, the Vicar of Christ Anglican Church, Venerable Israel Owoyele, noted that the solutions to Nigeria’s challenges are in the scriptures.

“The solution to our problem as a nation is in the scripture. Whenever the nation of Israel deviates from God’s ways, He usually sends a leader to chastise them. And God will always forgive them and heal their land whenever they repent.

“I expect that after this Marathon Bible Reading, people will love to read the bible more. And they will learn to live by it. The scripture is a great treasure,” he declared.
