Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State chapter, has commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for donating 50 streetlights and two solar-powered boreholes to the organisation.
CAN state chairman, Most Rev (Dr) John Bakeni, gave the commendation yesterday during a courtesy visit to the commission.
He noted with appreciation the policy of openness and fairness of the commission, which according to him, ensured that all religious organisations were treated equally and fairly in the distribution of social amenities and other palliative items.
He acknowledged the provision of two solar-powered boreholes and 50 streetlights for the association by the commission and expressed their appreciation and willingness to work together with the NEDC towards actualising its mission and vision of revamping the Northeast region.
He prayed for the management and staff of the commission to prosper in their efforts to achieve the mandate for which the NEDC was established.
“We have come here as a body just to say thank you and to encourage you and the Commission for the beautiful work you are doing.
“We thank the federal government for seeing it necessary to establish this kind of strategic organisation to ensure the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region affected by insurgency”, Bishop Bakeni said.
The MD/CEO of the NEDC, Mohammed Alkali who received the delegation, expressed appreciation for the visit and promised to extend the interventions to other religious groups in order to actualise the mandate of the commission.
