Following the sterling performance of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) under the sterling and transparent leadership of CG Adewale Adeniji, the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice has commended it as the most performing organization in 2023.
They lauded the Comptroller- General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniji for quadrupling the monthly revenue generation by the organization since his assumption of office.
In a statement by the national coordinator Comrade James Okoronkwo and national secretary, Otunba Olusegun Egbayielo and made available to journalists in Abuja, the duo noted that the present leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service has been working diligently in enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria thereby complementing President Bola Tinubu’s crusade of making Nigeria the most- sought – after investment destination in Africa.
They stated that the Nigeria Customs Service has become the catalyst for economic growth and development using technology and global best practices.
The group commended the Nigeria Customs Service for realising her N3.684 trillion revenue target .
Continuing the advocacy group also lauded the Customs CG for achieving the record breaking revenue ever collected at the Apapa Port under the transparent command of Area Controller Babajide Jaiyeoba who achieved the historic daily revenue collection of over N11.3 billion in 22 November 2023.
They also praised Adeniji’s unflinching commitment to 48 hours clearance of cargo at our nation’s ports, attributing it to the seamless synergy the Customs CG has built with customs agents, government agencies, haulage, operators, chandlers, shipping companies and other stakeholders.
They also pledged to partner with Nigeria Customs Service through advocacy to achieve her 2024 revenue target of N5.79 trillion.
