Afrobeats star Davido joined Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote in New York’s Times Square as the public offering of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals received international attention.
A Nasdaq billboard in the heart of Times Square displayed the message, “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.”
In a video shared by Davido, the singer and Dangote were seen pointing towards the billboard and waving to a small crowd gathered at the location.
Their appearance came amid the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, which opened on September 14 and is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026.
The offer comprises 4.1 billion shares priced at N525 per share, with a minimum subscription of 10 shares valued at N5,250.
The IPO is open to Nigerian and eligible African retail and institutional investors and could raise approximately N2.15 trillion if fully subscribed.
Speaking in the video, Dangote said the public listing would help broaden wealth creation and prosperity across Africa.
“It is very important, David, because that’s the only way to spread prosperity and wealth throughout Africa,” he said.
Dangote also disclosed plans to list other businesses within his group, including the fertiliser business.
“This is not going to be the first and the last. We will continue to do even our fertiliser. By the time we finish listing, every single African will own part of our businesses,” he said.
The Lekki-based Dangote refinery is one of Nigeria’s major industrial projects and produces petroleum products including petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Davido’s appearance alongside Dangote in Times Square has drawn additional public attention to the refinery’s IPO, coming as Nigerian personalities gather in New York for events surrounding the United Nations General Assembly.
