The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has proposed that every Nigerian citizen should undergo military training.

Musa made the suggestion during an interview, where he highlighted the physical and psychological demands associated with military training.

According to him, experiences such as hunger, exhaustion and physical strain can give people a different perspective on life and a deeper understanding of responsibility.

The former Chief of Defence Staff said Nigerians who undergo military training would better appreciate what it means to continue functioning and fulfilling responsibilities despite physical exhaustion, hunger or a lack of normal comfort.

He argued that such experiences could also help citizens develop a stronger understanding of the responsibilities involved in protecting the country.

Musa’s proposal comes amid ongoing discussions about national security, civic responsibility and ways to strengthen citizens’ understanding of the demands associated with national defence.
