Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has described as a painful loss to his administration and the people of the state the sudden death of his Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Sunday Kotor.
Kotor was considered a dedicated aide to the governor. He was also a seasoned Master of Ceremonies, and reportedly died after collapsing at a private event on Friday evening.
According to reports, he slumped during the event and was immediately rushed to a medical facility, where doctors’ efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. He was later confirmed dead.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori described Kotor as a dedicated and committed public servant who gave his best in the discharge of his duties.
‘Late Sunday, Kotor was wholly dedicated to his job. His passing is a huge loss, not only to his family but to the government and people of Delta State’, he lamented.
The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to Kotor’s family, particularly his younger brother, Conference, who serves as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media.
Oborevwori lamented that Kotor’s contributions to the government’s activities, especially in protocol and event coordination, would be greatly missed.
Kotor was a familiar facfact the Government House, Asaba, the state capital, where he played a prominent role anchoring official state functions for over two decades.
He served as Master of Ceremonies under successive administrations, including those of Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa, and continued in the role under the current administration.
A graduate of Mass Communication from Delta State University, Abraka, the Kotor hailed from Okwagbe in Ughievwen Kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
His sudden death has thrown family members, colleagues, and associates into mourning, with many describing it as shocking and devastating, given his longstanding service and vibrant presence at public events.
