Delta high court sentences 2 to 10 years imprisonment over illegal firearms possession

A Delta State High Court sitting in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, has sentenced two men to ten years imprisonment for possessing to-size single-barrel guns.

The defendants, now in custody at the Custodial Centre, Kwale, are Mr Joshua Anamali, 25 years and Mr Nelson Adoh, 30 years.

They were arrested by police officers who were on stop and search duty on 27 January 2021 at Ndemili community where the exhibit was recovered from them.

The Presiding Judge of the Court, Justice O. F Enenmo who examined the allegation proffered against the defendants found them guilty as charged.

He convicted and sentenced them for the offence of illegal possession of firearms.

The Prosecuting Counsel Mrs Catherine O. Oboreruomo said two witnesses, testified in the case against the defendants who defended themselves.

Mrs Oboreruomo, who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen after the judgement, advised young people to shun crime, saying that the result of crime is condemnation and total destruction.
