Senator Dino Melaye has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary for Kogi State and will fly the party’s flag in the 11th November election.
Melaye, who represented Kogi West in the eighth Senate (2015 – 2019), secured 313 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Idoko Ilonah, who got 124 votes.
Former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who was chairman of the party’s electoral committee for the primary, announced the result on Sunday.
Melaye’s major opponent in the general elections is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, presently the Auditor-General of the state.
