Grammy Award-winning rapper, Doja Cat, has been slammed online after she posted and then deleted a photo of herself wearing a shirt with the image of Sam Hyde, who allegedly has ties to the Neo-Nazi movement.
Sam Hyde, who is a troll and comedian, has been criticised for the use of racism, homophobia and anti-semitism in his ‘humour’.
On Friday, several images posted on Doja Cat’s account showed her wearing a top featuring the controversial comedian Sam Hyde.
The celebrity news account Pop Base said that Doja Cat, 27, initially shared her look in a photo on her main feed but later deleted it and re-uploaded a new version with the image cropped out.
A slightly blurry selfie of her wearing the shirt showing Hyde’s face was also posted on her Instagram stories.
Doja Cat’s photo sparked backlash on social media, with users questioning whether she was aware of who Hyde was or his associations with the alt-right.
An Earlier report noted that Doja Cat recently lost nearly one million followers due to comments against her fans.
In 2020, the controversial rapper’s relationship with fans and the public worsened when Doja Cat publicly denied “stripping for white supremacists” in racist chatroom sites and was prompted to apologise for hurtful online behaviour at the time.
