The Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi, has relocated from Benin City, the state capital, to Abuja.
According to reports, the relocation announcement was made by the Tribunal Secretary, Muazu Bagudu after a PDP data analyst, who is a witness of the Peoples Democratic Party gave multiple evidence on the alleged rigging in favour of All Progressives Congress (APC) in last September governorship election in the state.
The star witness had proceeded to adopt his written statements on oath amid objections and protests by counsel to the respondents (the APC).
After the testimony, which lasted for hours, counsels to the first, second and third respondents refused to start cross examination and pleaded for adjournment.
The tribunal agreed to the adjournment in the interest of fair hearing, but indicated that that would be the last court sitting to be held in Benin City.
Bagudu confirmed soon after that the tribunal had been moved to Abuja.
The tribunal will resume sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, 28 January 2025.
