The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has named the administrative block of its academy in Karu, Abuja, after the late Aminu Salisu.

Salisu, an assistant superintendent officer (ASO) in the EFCC, was shot dead during a night operation in Anambra state on 17 January 2025.

Speaking at the annual rewards and recognition ceremony of the commission on Saturday in Abuja, Ola Olukoyede, EFCC chairman, said the “gesture will immortalise the slain officer”.

Olukoyede said Salisu paid the supreme price in the service of the nation and his memory should be kept alive.

“We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment,” Olukoyede said.

“He was a gallant officer and to this effect, the administrative block of the Academy is hereby named after him.”

The anti-graft agency also honoured 36 officers in various categories, including highest recovery, highest conviction, best departmental staff, best zonal directorate, and staff of the year, among others.

The EFCC chairman congratulated the winners and advised them not to rest on their oars.

“Excellence is not about doing things right once in a while, it is about doing things right all the time. You need to continue to offer the best as the reward for hard work is more work,” he said.

Olukoyede revealed that 900 staff members have been promoted and announced the reinstatement of life and property insurance for employees.

He warned officers against compromising the core values of the EFCC, saying “the internal cleansing going on in the commission will spare no one”.

Early this month, EFCC dismissed 27 officers over alleged fraudulent activities and misconduct.

In November 2024, when two officers were sacked for alleged corrupt activities, Olukoyede said the anti-graft agency would not spare any bad egg in the commission.
