Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has been sworn in for a second term in office alongside his deputy, Monisade Afuye.

The duo took the oaths of allegiance and office on Friday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Adekanye Ogunmoye, administered the oaths.

The inauguration marks the beginning of another four-year term for Oyebanji and Afuye following their victory in the governorship election held on 20 June 2026.

Speaking at the ceremony, Oyebanji pledged to build on the achievements of his first term and improve residents’ welfare through policies designed to deliver more benefits to the people.

The event attracted prominent political leaders and government officials, including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu.

Shettima arrived in Ado-Ekiti on Friday for the inauguration and was received at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Governor Oyebanji and other dignitaries.

Also in attendance were the governors of Kwara, Imo, Sokoto, Kebbi, Ondo and Jigawa states, as well as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda.

Oyebanji’s second term will provide an opportunity for his administration to continue implementing its policies and programmes across the state.
