Sports Minister John Enoh has stated that his administration will prioritise infrastructure and facilities development, adding that these are key for Nigeria to achieve success in sports.
Enoh made the statement in Abuja, after his first week in office.
The new sports minister was sworn in by President Bola Tinubu alongside 45 other ministers last Monday.
The former Cross River lawmaker says he will prioritise facilities and infrastructure development.
“Facilities and infrastructures are a key component of sports, as they are variables that drive both elite performance and grassroots development,” Enoh said.
“It is very important that we get it right with our facilities. We must maintain the current infrastructures that we have, and look towards making them better to match what we have across the world.”
The minister, who had visited the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, added that he would assess the state of other facilities and infrastructure across the country and ensure they were elevated.
