Enugu, SMEDAN join forces, allocates N1b to boost MSMEs, startups

The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has announced a partnership between the state government and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), aimed at boosting Macro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state with a N1 billion matching fund.

Mbah disclosed this in a post he shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, @PNMbah.

Reiterating his administration’s commitment towards nurturing a thriving SME ecosystem to foster economic growth objectives in the state, Mbah disclosed that the groundbreaking initiative, tagged: ‘N1Billion Matching Fund Programme’, would empower small and medium-sized enterprises in Enugu State and pave the way for their growth and success.

Mbah averred that the initiative would introduce Conditional Cash Grants for 5,000 MSMEs, providing them with crucial financial support needed to thrive and boost their businesses.

He further stated that the collaboration between Enugu State and SMEDAN spans various impactful programmes, including skill acquisition, startup loans, and the creation of modular industrial estates, among other essential initiatives.

Mbah promised that his administration would continue to collaborate with SMEDAN in the pursuit of economic expansion and advancement.

He said, “I’m excited to announce our partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria on a ground-breaking initiative – a N1 Billion Matching Fund Programme.

“This commendable initiative is set to empower Nano, Macro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in Enugu State, paving the way for their growth and success.

“We’re also introducing Conditional Cash Grants for 5,000 MSMEs. These grants are designed to provide vital financial support to MSMEs, giving them the needed boost to thrive.

“Moreover, our collaboration with SMEDAN spans various impactful programmes, including skill acquisition, startup loans, and the creation of modular industrial estates, among other initiatives”.

He maintained that Enugu State was committed to creating a prosperous future for her SMEs and the community at large.

Governor Mbah commended the Director General of SMEDAN, Mr Charles Odii, for his vision, tenacity, and commitment to helping SMEs.

He enthused, “We also appreciate him for taking the time to come to our state on Thursday to officially seal the agreement. We will keep collaborating to achieve our goal of economic expansion and advancement”.
