Environmental violation: Lagos seals residential property

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off a residential property on Adetoun Crescent, Abule Egba, due to environmental regulation violations.

The property was said to be discharging untreated wastewater, causing road damage and discomfort to the surrounding community.

On Thursday, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab explained that the LSWMO took the step after receiving a formal complaint from residents.

His post on X read: “The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) on 12th September 2024 has taken decisive action by sealing off a residential property situated on Adetoun Crescent, Abule Egba, following a formal complaint from local residents.

“The property was found in violation of environmental regulations by discharging untreated wastewater, resulting in road damage and severe discomfort to the surrounding community.

“LSWMO reiterates its call for residents to report similar infractions and other environmental hazards.

“The Lagos State Government remains unwavering in its Zero Tolerance stance on environmental pollution and will continue to enforce measures that ensure public health and safety”.
