Nigeria’s long jump star, Ese Brume, has won the long jump event at the Botswana Golden Grand Prix with a world-leading distance of 6.77m

She began her outdoor games to win the women’s long jump event at the event.

Brume defeated Burkina Faso’s Marthe Koala, who had led until that moment with 6.69m in the third round.

The victory record in Botswana gives her an edge in preparations for the World Championships in Budapest starting August 19, 2023.

The Nigerian athlete started her season at the Texas Relays as part of a 4x100m relay team of Annie Tagoe, Nigerian international, Haisha Bisiolu, and British international and fellow jumper, Lorraine Ugen, finishing seventh in their heat in 42.07s and also competed in the recent 400m at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational, Texas.

However, she came fourth in her heat at 57.31s.

Brume has been improving with every edition of the World Championship; winning the bronze medal in Doha and stepping up to silver at the subsequent edition in Oregon.

Many will be waiting to see if Brume can go another notch higher in Budapest by winning the gold this time.
