Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Farouk Yahaya (rtd.) and other high-ranking military officials have stressed the need for capacity building of commanders and subordinates to overcome myriad of security challenges facing the nation.
At the unveiling of a book in honour of the former Commandant of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf (rtd.), Yahaya emphasised the importance for commanders to prioritise the well-being and consistent training of their subordinates.
“They should delve into the very essence of how one achieves outcomes, akin to the intricacies of military warfare”, he counselled.
The honoree, Yusuf noted that the book serves as a motivational impetus to contribute to the Armed Forces and, by extension, the broader society fostering the growth of capacities from nascent military students to higher echelons of command.
The editor-in-chief of the compendium, Prof. Okere Ahmed, who is also the Provost at the National Defence College, Abuja, expressed optimism that it would bring solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the Nigerian Armed Forces on the global stage.
The book, which is a compendium of written tributes dedicated to Yusuf, intends to serve as a guiding manuscript for the aspiring cadres of Junior Officers within the military echelons.
Titled Welfare, Command And Capacity Building In Nigeria, the literary work was unveiled at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, on Thursday.
