A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. ‘Tunde Lemo has expressed sorrow over the death of a season sports journalist, Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde which happened on Thursday.
Lemo, who is key player in Ogun State politics, said that the death of the Director of Programmes at Ogun State Television (OGTV) marked the end of a life committed to excellence in broadcast journalism.
‘It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, a veteran sports journalist whose professionalism, dedication and passion for the media and sports defined a remarkable era in Ogun journalism’, Lemo wrote on his authorised Facebook page..
According to the astute banker, ‘the late Akintunde’s commitment to the broadcasting craft, his insightful commentary and his mentorship to generations of broadcasters, made him a beacon in our media community’.
He said that Akintunde’s legacy would continue to inspire many professionals.
Condoling with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, OGTV management, colleagues, friends and especially the bereaved family, Lemo said that he shared in their grief.
‘May Almighty Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus and comfort all who mourn this profound loss’, he prayed.
