The letter says: “Given your extensive experience and your strong commitment to fostering innovation in higher education, we are confident that you will be an invaluable asset to the team. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with stakeholders, managing logistical arrangements, and benefit our vision and mission to create a change in higher education sector across the continent”.

Omeri brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership to FIAU. As NOA Director General, he demonstrated exceptional capability in driving various initiatives and fostering public awareness and national consciousness across diverse sectors.

He is expected to spearhead FIAU’s efforts to promote and implement groundbreaking educational programmes and policies that enhance the quality and accessibility of higher education across the continent.

Omeri expressed his enthusiasm about joining FIAU, stating: “I am highly honoured to take on this new role and look forward to collaborating with universities, policymakers, and stakeholders across Africa. Together, we will drive meaningful change and empower the next generation of African leaders through innovative educational initiatives”.

FIAU is a leading organisation dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in higher education across Africa. Meanwhile, the forum’s fourth annual global conference for Innovations in African Universities will take place in Abuja, Nigeria, on the 10 July 2024 at Nigeria Airforce Conference Centre, Kado.

Omeri explained that the 2024 edition of the conference has been expanded to include tertiary institutions like the Colleges of Education and the Polytechnics.

He said this became necessary in order to promote the active talents of those institutions to the world, especially since this year’s edition is expected to attract foreign higher institutions, industry, with opportunity for research and development grants as well as exhibition of innovations from these institutions.

He said there is a heavy demand for the limited spaces available for the exhibition, which would proceed with the award presentation to be held in the evening
