The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Nigeria Examinations Committee meeting over the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has commenced.
According to WAEC, the 78th meeting is set to tackle the pressing issue of malpractice and irregularities reported during the 2024 WASSCE for school candidates.
In a statement shared on X on Monday, WAEC emphasised the importance of the meeting, urging stakeholders to remain informed.
The statement read: “The 78th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) begins today to consider and decide on the malpractice/irregularity cases arising from the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024″.
This significant meeting and the outcomes are expected to have profound implications for students and the broader educational landscape in Nigeria.
WAEC has also urged affected candidates and the public to stay tuned for updates on the outcomes.
Two months ago, WAEC released the 2024 WASSCE result announcing that 72 per cent of the candidates got credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
WAEC however withheld the results of 215,267 candidates.
