The Oke Fia area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, witnessed a clash on Wednesday between operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service and Amotekun Corps, leading to a state of panic among the residents.

The cause of the clash was not immediately clear, but sources close to the head office of Osun Amotekun Corps in Oke Fia said gunshots were heard around 10 am.

The operatives shot into the air to scare themselves, making residents scamper to safety as business owners around that area closed their shops.

Patrol vans of operatives of NIS and Amotekun were sighted inside the premises of the Government House annexe.

It was further gathered the leaders of the two agencies were holding a meeting to resolve the issue.

The cause of the clash was still not known as at press time. Efforts to speak with the representatives of the agencies proved abortive.
