The Federal Government has deployed four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Kebbi State as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and combat banditry.
Governor Nasir Idris, inspected the vehicles on Sunday at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi,during a presentation by the Commanding Officer of 223 Light Tank Battalion, Zuru, Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh, and the Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion Rear, Birnin Kebbi, Major A.P. Azubuine.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Idris said the deployment would significantly boost the capacity of security operatives to confront bandits and restore peace, especially in vulnerable areas of the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes, noting that Kebbi would continue to provide welfare assistance to the families of troops who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The Governor expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and other security chiefs for their unwavering commitment to addressing insecurity nationwide.
‘We are grateful for the deployment of military hardware to repel any attack by bandits, particularly in our vulnerable local governments.
‘Kebbi State appreciates the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff for sending armoured vehicles to strengthen security operations.
‘My administration remains committed to supporting all security agencies in achieving success on the battlefield.
‘Our communities have expressed gratitude to the military for their gallant efforts in confronting banditry.
‘I urge residents in affected areas to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence to aid operations.
‘We also honour our fallen heroes and pray for the repose of their souls. Kebbi will continue to assist their families to ensure they live in dignity’, the Governor said.
Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh thanked the Military High Command for its continued support to frontline troops, stating: ‘We are working tirelessly, day and night, to overcome security challenges, and we appeal for public cooperation through the sharing of actionable intelligence on the activities of bandits and criminals’.
Major A.P. Azubuine also presented two of the APCs to the Governor as part of the Nigerian Army’s additional logistics deployment to the state.
