The Federal Government on Wednesday mourned the death of the first Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun.
Ajose-Adeogun, who was appointed FCT Minister under the regime of General Murtala Muhammed, died last Saturday at 96 years.
According to a statement by the Director of Information, Mr. Willie Bassey, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume recalled that Ajose-Adeogun drew the Abuja master plan.
The statement read: “The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, on behalf of the Federal Government, mourns the death of the first Federal Capital Territory Minister, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, aged 96.
“Ajose-Adeogun was charged with the responsibility of drawing up the Abuja master plan.
“SGF describes the late former Minister as a technocrat, a boardroom guru, an entrepreneur, an oil magnate, and most of all, an initiator of developmental projects in the country.
“He commiserates with the Government and people of Lagos State, his immediate family, and prays to God to grant the soul of the departed eternal repose”.
