The Nigeria U-20 Women’s team, the Falconets, will know their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (WWC) group opponents on Wednesday, 5 June 2024.
The draw taking place in Bogota, Colombia, will see the 24 qualified teams divided into six groups of four teams each for the final competition.
Falconets, who have qualified for every edition of the competition and have been runners-up twice, losing to Germany on both occasions in 2010 and 2014, secured a place in the tournament to be staged in Colombia from Saturday, 31 August to Sunday, 22 September 2024, alongside other African countries such as Ghana, Cameroon, and Morocco.
Qualified nations are: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia (host country), Costa Rica, Fiji, France, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Korea, the DPR, the Korea Republic, Mexico, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Paraguay, Spain, the USA, and Venezuela.
The tournament is set to return, two years after the 2022 edition was won by Spain.
For the 2024 edition, the tournament will grow from 16 to 24 teams following the decision of the FIFA Council on October 4 to expand the number of
participants.
