Nigeria’s Under 20 national football team, the Flying Eagles, will commence their first training session on Tuesday as preparations begin in earnest for the upcoming WAFU A and B U20 Nations Cup Invitational Tournament, scheduled to take place in Ghana from 15 June to 30 June, 2025.
The maiden edition of the regional competition will feature 16 West African nations, with Nigeria among the favorites to contend for the title. The tournament is expected to serve as an important platform for competitive match exposure and tactical development for the Flying Eagles.
The WAFU Invitational also offers timely preparation as Nigeria, alongside South Africa, Egypt, and Morocco, have already secured qualification for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.
Team officials say the team resumed officially on Monday and the squad will use the Ghana tournament to assess player readiness, build squad cohesion, and sharpen strategies ahead of global competition.
