The Symposium/Lecture and Day of Tributes scheduled for 4th March, at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, to kickstart the weeklong funeral rites for the former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Chief Frank Ovie Kokori has been rescheduled.
The Alternate Chairman of the Media sub-committee of the Burial Planning Committee, Mr. Felix Ayanruoh; its Secretary, Ebenezer Adurokiya; and son of the late foremost unionist, Kive Kokori made this known in a statement on Thursday at Ovu, country-home of the Kokoris in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The elder statesman passed on on 7th December 2023, the day he clocked 80, at Mount Horeb Clinic, Warri, where he was receiving treatment for a kidney-related ailment.
Consequently, the Chief Frank Ovie Kokori’s Burial Planning Committee (Media sub-committee), announced a week-long burial plan late January, on behalf of the children and family of the octogenarian.
In its latest statement, the committee disclosed that other items on the burial ceremony programme would go on as scheduled with the Service of Songs on Thursday, 7th March, at the deceased’s residence, 20, Odokuma Street, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
On the following day, Friday, March 8, 2024, the body leaves St. Francis Hospital Mortuary in a motorcade to his residence to lying-in-state in preparation for the Funeral Service at St. James Anglican Church, Oviorie-Ovu, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
Interment will take place at the residence, to be followed immediately by reception/entertainment of guests at Ovu Grammar School, Ovu-Inland.
On Sunday, 10th March, a Thanksgiving/Outing Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Oviorie-Ovu.
