What many people see in power and political positions in Nigeria are the glamours and gold attached. My friends, it’s more than that.
There is nothing more precious about life than peace of mind and joy of the Lord. Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s recent submission should teach a lesson. Fubara told his listening audience recently at Pa Edwin Clark’s service of songs: ‘Have you asked yourself, do you think I’m interested in going back there? I want to ask you — don’t you see how much better I’m doing?…. Do you think I’m interested in going back there? If I had my way, I would say this is it. This is the will of God. I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit has left that place’.
Fubara’s spirit has left confusion and pandemonium. Power is confusion and pandemonium. There’s always confusion, pandemonium, and discombobulation in terrains ruled by mean men and vile viragos.
Nigerian politicians are mean! Fubara is tired being governor again.
But my prediction is this; and it is what I see on the radar. President Bola Tinubu will reinstate Fubara. And Fubara will accept the reinstatement and serve out his term. What happens afterwards? I don’t know. Is a second term possible for Sim? I’m not a connoisseur in Rivers politics.
Whoever thought Sim could become governor in the first place? So, I have quit the business of predicting politics in Rivers. But I feel Fubara’s pain. But Fubara feels it more than any one of us. And he who feels it knows it.
