The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Kebbi State’s 2019 elections, Senator Isa Galaudu, has formally resigned from the party.
In a letter dated 20 August and addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Augie North, Muhammadu Danbuga, Galaudu said his resignation was effective immediately.
The former chief of staff to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and ex-Senator representing Kebbi North (2011–2015) said his decision was prompted by recent developments within the party.
He stated, ‘I write to inform you of my resignation with immediate effect as a member of the PDP.
‘It’s obvious that the PDP is being controlled by politicians of the national ruling party’.
Galaudu, also a former banker and board member of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, did not indicate the political party he intends to join.
During his time in the PDP, he was a significant political figure in Kebbi State and a strong contender in the 2019 governorship race
