State governors under the auspices of Nigerian Governors Forum on Thursday held a valedictory session at the Presidential Villa Abuja, where they eulogised the outgoing Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Osinbajo chaired the National Economic Council (NEC) meetings for eight years where far-reaching resolutions were taken to improve governance both at the state and federal level
On how the valedictory session went, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed told State House correspondents that NEC members were full of praises for the Vice President, especially the way and manner he steered the affairs of the council.
He said they sang collectively for him and wished him success in his future endeavors.
“The National Economic Council held a valedictory session today, where a very large attendance by my colleagues was observed.
“It was an opportunity for us to thank the Vice President and to appreciate his leadership and also to appreciate ourselves members of Council on major economic issues, policies and programmes.
“Council unanimously appreciated the leadership of His Excellency the Vice President because for the last eight years he has shown uncommon leadership in terms of making sure controversial, non controversial issues were discussed and resolved amicably.
“He gave each and every one of us members of the Council opportunity to express ourselves without any hindrance. We never brought any personal or political issues into his own leadership and that’s what made most of us really appreciate him.
“We’re very happy. We will miss him and will continue to miss him. So we sang a song that he’s a jolly good fellow and of course, all of sang because of the kind of personality he is”, the Bauchi State Governor said .
Along with his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari, Osinbajo will bow out of office on 29th May, having served out two terms of four years each.
Many pundits following political trend in Nigeria have described Osinbajo as highly instrumental to the achievements of the outgoing administration.
