Group demands Matawalle’s removal, blames inexperience

The Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development has congratulated General Christopher Musa on his appointment and confirmation as the Minister of Defence, describing it as ‘well deserved’ and the ‘right man for the job’.

The group’s Executive Director, Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, commended President Bola Tinubu for the wise choice, saying it demonstrates his resolve to crush terrorism and armed bandits in the country.

In a press statement, Shinkafi called for the immediate sacking of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, citing his lack of experience in complex security issues and alleged sympathy for bandits.

Shinkafi also demanded the scrapping of the office of Minister of State for Defence, saying it is not necessary and an aberration in military command.

The group expressed confidence in the military’s capacity to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity if well funded, equipped, and motivated.

The group congratulated General Musa on his appointment, saying it is a testament to his patriotism, professionalism, and integrity.

The group called for Matawalle’s immediate sacking, citing his lack of experience and alleged sympathy for bandits.

The group demanded the scrapping of the office, saying it is not necessary and an aberration in military command.

The group highlighted the security challenges facing the country, including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, militancy, secession, and kidnapping for ransom.

The group urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu and General Musa in the quest for national security, safety, unity, and prosperity.

The statement also criticised the previous appointments of Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and Bello Matawalle as Ministers of Defence, saying they lacked the necessary experience and expertise.

The group emphasised the importance of having a defence minister with a track record in military service, like General Musa, to effectively coordinate the armed forces and safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The statement urges Nigerians to support the government in addressing the security challenges facing the country and making Nigeria great again.
