Gunmen kill 1 of 2 kidnapped doctors in Edo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed Tahir Abu Emhoye, a younger brother of Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, who was abducted on 1 January, 2026, in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The duo were kidnapped at about 7:30 pm along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, at the gate of their residence, as they were about to enter their home after closing from work.

The deceased is said to be a fresh medical graduate from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, while his senior brother is currently undergoing housemanship at Edo University Teaching Hospital, Auchi.

The kidnappers had, on Saturday, 3 January, 2026, contacted the family and demanded N200 million for the release of the victims.

A viral video posted by Ismail Egbomiade on the Auchi Blog and Services Facebook page said the deceased, who was a former Director of Sports at the AAU Students’ Union Government, was killed and his corpse dumped near a river.
