Popular skit maker, Maryam Apaokagi-Greene (also known as Taaooma) has disclosed that she never planned to end up as a comedian.

Famous for her skits on Instagram and TikTok, Taaooma said she only had an interest in video editing but later ended up making humorous skits.

She revealed that she wasn’t social media savvy when she started but eventually found herself entertaining millions of people on social media.

“I didn’t start out to become a comedian, so I wasn’t really looking up to anybody like that, Instagram was not my thing, Facebook was not my thing so I wasn’t in this space or I didn’t know anything about it, I only wanted to learn how to edit. So this comedy just came along the line for me so I didn’t really look up to anybody that much”, said Taaooma.

On her advice for other creatives, she said: “Number one is you really have to do your stuff yourself. Secondly, invest in yourself, if you do, it’s going to be very easy- you don’t have to do a lot of stuff editing. If you use your good light and good microphone, all you have to do is put the thing on your timeline, you don’t have to start adjusting colour or whatever.”

She further revealed that her dream is to produce top-quality movies someday.
