The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, on Monday, swore in the 21 Local Government chairmen who got elected on Saturday.
The candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were declared winners in the election conducted by the state electoral commission.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi and attended by the governor and top political officeholders in the state.
The state Chief Judge, Justice Umar Abubakar, administered the oath of office to the elected chairmen whose tenure had been extended to three years by the state House of Assembly earlier in the year.
The governor tasked the chairmen to live above board by ensuring the delivery of dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
“Now that you are sworn in, I want you to commence your job immediately. Make sure you impact your people at the community level.
“You should all go home and swear in your councillors for immediate and effective commencement of work in all the wards in the state. I promise to work with all of you one hundred per cent”, he said.
The governor ordered the release of Hilux operational vehicles to the new chairman and urged them to carry everyone along in the discharge of their responsibilities.
