Igbo youths have praised President Bola Tinubu for establishing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and urged effective management to benefit the Ndigbo people.
They also commended Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for his efforts in passing the bill.
Speaking through Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, the youths appealed to President Tinubu to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying it would bring joy to Ndigbo. They commended the cordial relationship between President Tinubu and Representative Kalu but frowned at Dr. Josef Onoh’s disputed contribution of Kalu in establishing SEDC.
Igboayaka argued that Onoh was unfair to Kalu, considering his efforts in passing the bill. He stated that Onoh’s statement could cause disunity among Igbo political elites. Igboayaka maintained that Kalu deserves credit for his role in establishing SEDC, especially since the final bill signed was different from previous attempts.
The youths stressed that proposing and processing a bill to become an Act is a significant achievement and that Kalu should be recognized for his efforts. They appreciated President Tinubu for signing the SEDC Bill into law and urged him to initiate more developmental programs and projects for the South East region.
They also called for the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu through a political solution.
