Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has won re-election scoring majority votes in all the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to the state Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Abayomi Fasina, who made the declaration early on Sunday, said the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) scored 540,308 votes to defeat his closest challenger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who scored 71,503 votes , while the Labour Party candidate, Chief Athan Achonu, came third with 64,081 votes.

None of the other 15 candidates had up to 10,000 votes.

“Hope Odidika Uzodinma having satisfied all the requirements of law and scored majority of the lawful votes, is hereby declared elected”, Fasina declared.

The PDP and Labour Party have called for a total cancellation of the poll.

They alleged that security agents allegedly connived with INEC staff to allow members of the APC to rig the election.

Earlier, the state agent of the Labour Party, Callistus Ihejiagwa, was beaten and thrown out of the collation centre after he objected to the results announced by the LGA returning officers.

The state agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Kissinger Ikeokwu immediately left the collation centre.

On Saturday night, the PDP candidate in the election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu had called for a total cancellation of the election.
