Monday, 21st August has been declared work-free for public servants in Lagos State.
According to a statement on Friday by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the work-free day to commemorate this year’s Isese Day in the state.
The Isese Day has been set aside in Lagos to celebrate indigenous Yoruba culture and traditions as well as the preservation of the people’s heritage.
According to a circular by the state Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, this Year’s Isese Day celebration will hold on Sunday, 20th August, 2023.
He stated further that the declaration of work-free day by the governor is reaffirmation of his “commitment to continue to provide necessary support to traditional institutions in the State with a view to promoting our indigenous culture and tradition while preserving our heritage”.
