The Mayor of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area (LGA), Abia State, Ambassador Chiedoziem Uruakpa has assured the people of Ama-ano Nsulu autonomous community that his administration would transmit their request and all documents to the appropriate authorities and the state government to facilitate the recognition and presentation of staff of office to their Eze-elect, Chief Chinonyerem Dimgba (Nwachinyreugo), Eze Udo II.
At the presentation of the Eze-elect to the Mayor by the Chairman of Ama-ano Nsulu People’s Assembly, Chief Cyprian Ogwumike and elders of the community at the Council Chambers recently, Uruakpa congratulated the Eze-elect on his election and commended the people of Ama-ano Nsulu on the peaceful and transparent manner they elected their traditional ruler.
Earlier, Ogwumike said that the community complied with the chieftaincy laws of the state and the Constitution of the community in conducting the election that produced the Eze-elect.
The Chairman, who was represented by a retired Permanent Secretary of the Abia State Civil Service, Deacon Uzoma Isiakpu told the Mayor and his team that the Eze-elect secured 63 votes against 35 votes polled by his rival, Chief Kelechi Amajuoyi to win the election.
According to Ogwumike, the election was free, fair, peaceful and the outcome acceptable to all.
He said that, after the result declaration by the Chairman of the Screening/Election Committee, Dr. Chibuzo Emereuwa, Dimgba was formally presented to the community as Eze Udo II-elect and a certificate of return issued to him.
Ogwumike commended Governor Alex Otti and Uruakpa for uplifting the traditional institution which, he said, has received a boost since the inception of the present administration, pointing out that the community would continue to support the state administration.
He urged the Mayor to make his recommendations to the appropriate authorities to facilitate the recognition and presentation of staff of office to the Eze-elect as the Udo II of Ama-ano Nsulu autonomous community.
After his presentation to the authorities of Isiala Ngwa North LGA, the Udo II-elect thanked Uruakpa for the warm reception accorded the community and assured him that his reign would be peaceful as well as usher in progress and development.
The Eze-elect also promised to ensure that his subjects would support the programmes and polices of the government.
The colourful presentation, which attracted a large crowd from the community and its neighbours, was witnessed some eminent personalities. They included the Supervisory Councilor for Education, Youth and Sports in the LGA, Hon. Chief Jude Obasi; the Director of Pharmacy at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Dr. Steven Orikara; and two former councilors of Umunna Nsulu Ward 11, Hon. Pastor Chinweikpe Dimgba and Hon Prince Nnoye Ndubuisi.
Others included an estate agent, Chief Osuagwu Ukaibe; the Village Head of Ikputu, Chief Ginika Ubani; the Village Head of Umuodeche, Chief Emenike Obioma; a former Village Head of Ikputu, and Mr. Gershon Nwoche.
