Jigawa pays N1.5b to 569 retirees in pension payout

The Jigawa State and Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has disbursed over N1.5 billion to 569 retirees.

This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary of the Pension Board, Dr. Binyaminu Shitu, while addressing journalists on Monday at the Pension House in Dutse, the state capital.

According to Aminu, N1,505,449,327.78 would be distributed among the 569 retirees, saying that ‘the amount encompasses various payments, including retirement benefits, death benefits, and death pension balances, ensuring comprehensive support for the retirees.

Highlighting the components of the beneficiaries, the Executive Secretary revealed that 287 beneficiaries were from state service, 158 from local governments, and 124 from Local Education Authorities.

Specifically, he said, N875,625,045.00 would be disbursed to those from state service, N355,025,795.72 to local government beneficiaries, and N274,798,487.06 to L.E.A beneficiaries.

However, Aminu reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the timely disbursement of entitlements, including payment of monthly pension on the first week of each month and emphasized the state government’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of its workers, ensuring they can enjoy a secure and fulfilling life after their years of service.

Furthermore, the Secretary stated that the Jigawa’s pension model is one of the best in the country, with over twenty states visiting to learn from its exemplary approach.

He, therefore praised Governor Namadi for his support and efforts toward the improvement of the scheme since inception of his administration.

Moreso, the Jigawa Pension Boss urged retirees and active civil servants to continue praying for the government to achieve its objectives and to acknowledge the commendable work of the present administration.

The event was attended by the State Head of the Civil Service, Muhammad Dagaceri, among other dignitaries.

While interviewed exclusively by the PUNCH Correspondent on the scene of the disbursement, some of the beneficiaries, like Sabitu Umar, expressed his gratitude to the state government for the payment of the benefits. ‘I’m grateful to the government for paying our benefits. It’s a big relief for us’, he said.

Another beneficiary, Mr. Abdullahi Musa commended the Pension Board for its efforts in ensuring timely disbursement of benefits. ‘The Pension Board has done a great job in paying our benefits. We’re grateful to the government for its support’, he said.

A third beneficiary, Mr. Muhammad Nuhu, urged the government to continue its support for retirees. ‘We appreciate the government’s support, and we urge them to continue paying our benefits on time’, he said.

It was reported that stakeholders at the event, see the disbursement of benefits as a key moment, bringing relief to retirees who have been eagerly awaiting their payments, urging the Jigawa Pension Board’s on timely disbursement to ensure that retirees receive their entitlements without difficulty to enable them enjoy a secure and fulfilling life after their years of service.
