The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered food items and medical supplies worth millions of naira to Plateau Government following the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
The Director-General (D-G), NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, on Friday in Jos, said she was there to commiserate with Gov. Caleb Mutfwang and the entire people of Plateau over the recent gunmen attack in Angwan Rukuba in Jos North LGA .
Umar, who was represented by Zonal Coordinator, North Central Zone, Mr Adebiyi Razaq said the agency was also at the government house to deliver relief items and medications from the federal government to support the victims of the recent attack in the state.
According to the D-G, the intervention is part of the federal government’s commitment to providing timely assistance to victims of the attack.
‘This tragic incident has caused immense unrest, fear, suffering, and loss to the people of the state, and we stand in solidarity with you, the affected communities and the state.
‘NEMA remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance in times of crisis’, she said.
The D-G prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and comfort for the bereaved families.
Umar, reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to working with the state government to provide relief and support recovery efforts of victims of crisis and disasters.
Governor Mutfwang, who received the items, commended NEMA for its support, in providing succor for the victims.
Mutfwang , gave the assurance that the relief materials supplied would be distributed transparently to those directly affected, irrespective of religion or ethnicity.
‘As a government, we always look out for the vulnerable and we would not allow what belongs to them be hijacked’, he said.
The governor, assured the D-G of the state’s partnership with the agency to provide succor and hope to those, who are disadvantaged and whose lives were disrupted by crisis and disasters.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the relief materials including bags of rice, beans, cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomatoes paste, detergents , dignity kits, mattresses , clothes and essential medications, were delivered to alleviate the plights of victims.
