He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it – Martin Luther King Jr.
Selling blood for water is trending now. We watch on social media and on national television as ignorance is metastasise.
We hated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while it rules for the reasons we saw. The excruciating pains we felt. The scars we still bear. The corruption that shook the nation.
We loathed All Progressives Congress (APC) for the failed promises. The lack of leadership. The innocent blood shed. Turing us, as a nation, from being hopeful into HOPEFOOLS. A party that was lackadaisical and fond of promoting shady individuals. Not WE THE PEOPLE. A President that cured himself and got healthy, while our chronic illness got worse.
Now we are being told to hate Peter Obi for reasons we cannot see. Suddenly, we have to put the blame of our myriads of problems on Peter Obi.
He is the reason Russia invaded Ukraine. He is the reason the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on strike since 1960. The fall of the Naira compared to the US dollar is Peter Obi.
Twenty-four years of failed leadership that has brought untold sufferings to all but less than one percent is because of Peter Obi. Our electricity problem that saw PDP waste over $60 billion is caused by Peter Obi.
The reason for Boko Haram, that an APC Army General could not solve, is Peter Obi. The gallant young soldiers that lost their lives was because of Peter Obi. The Nigerian Civil war was started because of Peter Obi. He is after all Igbo. So he must be Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Peter Obi, killed MKO Abiola.
It is deeply perplexing how we can easily be fooled as a nation. How the few rich and extremely powerful can control our minds and guide our thinking towards a narration that will benefit them and not us. That’s the gaslighting that has worked for them at our own detriment.
Atiku Abubakar, will not address the corruption of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. And vice versa. An election that should be anchored primarily on issues. Vigorous debates on television, has turned into get PETER OBI. A microscope is put on his life rather than on the pariah that we have in the two major parties.
His party has no structure, we hear. You do not need an edifice when you have the hearts of the people. WE THE PEOPLE have volunteered for him to stand on our shoulders. There is no meaning for APC and PDP any longer. But Peter Obi has a meaning. It is the past that we want thrown away; the suffering that we are tired off. Nigerians are awake now. Finally, the attention of the youth has been caught. AWALOKAN will drown EMILOKAN.
Peter Obi might lose to Atiku. He might lose to Tinubu. If that happens, many will jubilate forgetting once again how too much money defeated too many people.
I AM PETER OBI. YOU ARE PETER OBI. WE ARE PETER OBI.
It is us against them.
