Juventus staged a dramatic comeback to beat Inter Milan 4-3 in a pulsating Derby d’Italia on Sunday, with Vasilije Adzic’s thunderbolt late strike sealing a remarkable victory.

The Serie A giants delivered a high-octane contest at Allianz Stadium, where both Khephren and Marcus Thuram found the net, adding an emotional subplot as the brothers squared off in front of father Lilian Thuram.

Inter arrived under pressure following a shock home defeat to Udinese, prompting Manuel Akanji to make his debut straight from Manchester City.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Carlos Augusto also started, leaving Petar Sucic and Federico Dimarco on the bench. Juventus, unbeaten without conceding before the clash, were without Andrea Cambiaso due to suspension, while Francisco Conceicao, Fabio Miretti, Juan Cabal, Arek Milik and new signing Edon Zhegrova were sidelined by injuries.

The match started at a frenetic pace, with Nicolò Barella’s early volley narrowly missing for Inter. Juventus soon threatened, with Kenan Yildiz creating two golden chances that were blocked by desperate Inter defenders.

The breakthrough came from a corner: Gleison Bremer’s knock-back from Manuel Locatelli’s cross allowed Lloyd Kelly to volley home with precision from 12 yards.

Inter responded through Hakan Calhanoglu, who converted a Carlos Augusto lay-off into a blistering strike from the edge of the box, before Kenan Yildiz restored Juventus’ lead with a swerving finish from distance.

The second half saw Inter dominate possession, eventually drawing level again. Calhanoglu struck with a sublime chest-controlled volley, before Marcus Thuram gave the visitors the lead with a header from Federico Dimarco’s corner.

Juventus refused to fold, and Khephren Thuram equalised shortly after, nodding in a Kenan Yildiz free-kick.

The game’s defining moment came late when substitute Vasilije Adzic unleashed a 30-yard screamer that curled past goalkeeper Sommer into the top corner, settling the contest. VAR dismissed Inter’s protest over a perceived foul in the build-up.

Despite pushing to the final whistle, Inter could not find a way back. Marcus Thuram’s late header missed the target, leaving the Nerazzurri to suffer back-to-back Serie A defeats.

The win keeps Juventus’ perfect start intact and underlines their resilience in one of Italy’s most storied rivalries.
