Men of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested eight kidnap suspects around the Maigana General Aea in the Soba Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This was according to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mansur Hassan in Kaduna on Thursday.
According to him, the suspects have been responsible for the various kidnappings and other related crimes in the area in recent times.
The police spokesman identified the arrested suspects as Bello Suleiman, 20; Ismail Abubakar, 20; Usman Suleiman, 20; Umar Gero, 19; and, Isah Lawal, 20; all of Farin Kasa village in Soba LGA.
Others, he said, are Abubakar Bello, 27 (Sakaru village in Soba LGA), and Ibrahim Mu’azu, 20 (Bagaldi village Soba).
He, however, noted that the ring leader of the gang is currently at large but being trailed by operatives of the command.
He also quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Musa Garba, to have charged the officers and men of the command to go on the offensive against the criminal elements terrorising the good people of the state as the Christmas period approaches.
The police chief said: “In a recharged drive towards guaranteeing that lives and properties are secured in Kaduna State, especially during the impending festive season coupled with the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Musa Yusuf Garba, directive to Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to go on the offensive, Police Operatives from the Divisional Headquarters Maigana has succeeded in the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and armed robbers.
“Preliminary inquiry disclosed that the aforesaid suspects were responsible for the abduction on August 25, 2023 of Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai. Equally, a certain Adamu Mu’azu ‘M’ of Bagaldi village was their kidnapped victim in recent times. Their gang leader one alias Hanazuwa ‘m’ of Farin Kasa village is at large though trailed. All the suspects will have their day in court at the completion of the investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command, CP Musa Garba, hailed the operatives and tasked them to even be more circumspect during this yuletide season.
“He also called on the public to be security conscious as criminal elements are on the prowl to unduly meet up with the demand of the festive period”.
