Traders are lamenting the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Mu’azu-closed Street, which leads to the popular Sabo Market opposite refinery Bustop in Kaduna, saying it posed a serious health hazard.
A resident, Oguchukwu Duru, who was fielding questions from Sunday PUNCH decried that the littering of the market and environs with refuse has become unbearable as residents and traders now drop their waste anywhere, which has turned the market into an eyesore.
He said the Mu’azu streets that lead into the market have almost been covered with waste, exposing their children and other people to health hazards.
“The indiscriminate littering of the refused has affected their borehole water and with maggots entering their compound.
He calls on the government of Governor Uba Sani to visit the scene and relocate the site “so that we can be free from maggots and other health hazards”.
“The waste disposal truck operators are not prompt towards the clearing of the waste, stressing the waste has been here for over a week”, Ogochukwu lamented.
