Nigerian Afrobeats singer Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the death of his mother prompted him to take a break from music this year.
The singer disclosed this on Friday while responding to a fan on X, clarifying that his absence was not due to preparations for a new album.
Kizz Daniel said he stepped away from music to grieve the loss of his mother and support other members of his family.
“I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year,” he said.
The singer’s comments offer an explanation for his relatively low profile in the music scene this year, after previously being associated with a busy release and performance schedule.
In 2025, Kizz Daniel also disclosed that his wife had lost her mother in 2024.
The singer has not indicated how long his current break from music will last but said he was continuing to move forward for the sake of his family.
